Chapter 6 Blog
Chapter 6 Blog
For my blog this week, I am going to talk about Twitter and how developing personal networks as someone who wants to be a sports journalist/reporter on Twitter can be extremely beneficial. The entire world of sports is on Twitter. Soccer, hockey, football, baseball, basketball, there's fans and reporters of all these sports on Twitter. The way I've seen the communities across all of these sports connect over the app has been awesome to watch.
In Chapter 6, it's all about building a connected learning communities and online personal networks. As I said before, I think Twitter is great for that when it comes to what I want to do. "Growing and nurturing a network means engaging in conversations in safe, ethical ways. Through ongoing and reciprocal sharing, you develop relationships, and the possibilities for learning expand." (94-95). This statement from the text perfectly summarizes the chapter in my opinion. The more you grow a network safely, the more possibilities you give yourself to learn and grow. It's using these connections that help you learn more and improve upon your abilities, no matter what the community is.
Hi Kevin, thank you for the information on Twitter as I am not a current user and could not really see the usefulness for it in my career. However, after reading your blog, I took a look and will definitely be exploring it a little further. I work in the home healthcare industry and there are several critical topics that can be discussed pertaining to healthcare in general as well as home health care verse in patient facility care. As I searched on Twitter, I was able to see these discussions and the possibility of incorporating Twitter in my personal learning network. Thanks again for the information and new perspective!
ReplyDeleteYour post on using Twitter to build a personal network in the sports journalism field is spot on. I appreciate how you've highlighted the power of Twitter in connecting communities. Your insights about growing a network through ethical engagement align perfectly with the chapter's emphasis on building similar communities. Not only do you understand the concept, but you also applied them to your passion for sports journalism. Keep up the great work, and I look forward to reading more about your experiences with building a connected learning network on Twitter.
ReplyDeleteHi Kevin! I love your post because you were able to relate chapter six to your future work and how Twitter can help you effectively do your job and make connections. Throughout your blog, you were able to highlight the importance of making safe connections and growing these networks to improve your abilities within your network. Before reading this chapter, I knew the importance of networks, but I did not fully understand all the ways networks can help one within their area of specialty. In the future, I hope to keep learning about networks and how the can help improve communities. Have a great rest of the semester!
